Welcome to the home of the Fabulous Semi-monthly Win Akemi's Junk Contest! If you prefer, you may call it FSWAJC, pronounced... however you want, really, since I can't think of anything.
This is where, on the first and fifteenth of every month in 2007, a lucky and trivia-aware contestant will be awarded a prize of their choosing from Akemi's official Bucket o' Junk™. The prizes contained within Akemi's Anime Trashbucket have no functional monetary value, as they're largely freebies from Japan or things that even eBay can't get rid of, but that doesn't mean there isn't something in the bucket that you might not be happy to own! DVDs, import LaserDiscs, random hard-to-find memorabilia, ancient software--all these fabulous prizes and more will be yours to choose from, if you are selected as a winner.
Entering is easy: Use the form below to answer the current trivia question; a winner will be selected at random from all the correct answers we receive during that half of the month. If you win, we'll get in touch with you and let you select your prize from the current list of what's available. And here's a hint: If you don't already know the answer to the question, you can find it somewhere here on AAW.
For a complete list of currently available prizes, past winners, and the correct answers to past trivia questions, look no further than the prize bucket.
Sakura Taisen/Sakura Wars may be a TV series, movie, and multiple OAV series, but what was the anime incarnation originally based on?
Other important details: One entry per person per semi-monthly trivia question--if you try to enter more than once, all your entries for that period will be disqualified. Entries must be sent using the web form on this page, and must be submitted before 12:01am, Pacific Time, on the 1st or 15th day of the month, depending on the current period; we are not responsible for entries that are lost or misdirected for some reason. Contest is open to anybody 13 or older living in the United States or Canada, unless prohibited by law where you live; if you are legally a minor (generally under the age of 18), you must have the written permission of a parent or guardian to enter--we'll ask for it if you win. The information we collect for this contest will not be retained after the winner has been selected--it will never be sold or given to anybody. Prizes have no functional monetary value--that's why it's Akemi's junk, after all--but if there are some sort of taxes or fees that your area requires you to pay, they're your responsibility, not ours. We attempt to contact the selected winner, but if we can't get ahold of him or her within one week of the end of the contest, we will select another winner. If that winner can't be reached within a week, then nobody wins for that time. This contest is considered to be just for fun--if you enter, you're agreeing not to sue us regardless of what happens. Results will be posted on this page. If you have a burning desire to see the complete legalese, email us and we'll get it to you.
