Akemi's Anime World

2011 What's New

Oct. 28, 2011

Lots of new reviews: The flashy but somewhat scattered Xam'd and the over-the-top action favorite Read or Die from Matt, and not one, not two, but all four InuYasha movies from Chainclaw: Affections Touching Across Time, The Castle Beyond the Looking Glass, Swords of an Honorable Ruler, and Fire on the Mystic Island.

Oct. 03, 2011

New reviews of a pair of sports shows--one good and the second bad--from Chainclaw: Taisho Baseball Girls and Bamboo Blade, plus Matt's take on the romantic comedy Nodame Cantabile.

Sept. 08, 2011

New review of the generally-marvelous Durarara!! (exclamation points included) by Marc.

Sept. 01, 2011

New (and unkind) review from Chainclaw of Fushigi Yûgi: Eikoden.

Aug. 20, 2011

New reviews today of the prequel Ga-Rei-Zero from Matt and the sequel Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch Pure from Chainclaw. Our old-school discussion forums also just got a major upgrade, makeover, and anti-spam workout in an attempt at revitalization--if you're up for such things sign up and speak your mind.

Jul. 11, 2011

Four new reviews today: The American football series Eyeshield 21, which Chainclaw loved, the weird Dead Leaves, which Matt liked, the dating-sim-based remake Kanon, which Matt also liked, and the abysmal and embarrassing harem short Eiken, which Marc hated.

Jun. 29, 2011

A review of the forgotten Rumiko Takahashi short Fire Tripper from Chainclaw, lots more in the pipeline.

Jun. 05, 2011

After a long delay due to family issues, we begin unloading the backlog of material with a review of the cerebral biopic Spring and Chaos from Matt and, from Chainclaw, the topnotch Lupin III film Crisis in Tokyo.

Apr. 06, 2011

Three more reviews from the still-deep queue: Chainclaw on the mediocre magical girl show Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch, Matt (aka Legion) on the lame sequel Kite: Liberator, and Marc on the insane not-quite-sequel Puni Puni Poemy.

Mar. 22, 2011

A review of the short but good indie action show Catblue Dynamite, and the short but not so good mecha parodies ARIEL and Deluxe ARIEL; Chainclaw also weighs in on both ARIEL series, and thought even less of them. More from Chainclaw in the pipeline.

Feb. 25, 2011

The first in a series of reviews of yuri series from Marc, the somewhat bland Kashimashi Girl Meets Girl, and from Chainclaw a review of the second Fushigi Yûgi OVA series, a solid sequel.

Jan. 31, 2011

A couple of reviews of old-school sci-fi: the abbreviated war story Big Wars, by Chainclaw, and the Streamline dub of 8 Man After, by Marc, plus a second opinion of 8 Man After from Damian.

Jan. 23, 2011

Several new reviews: The new, but not very good, Devil May Cry, by Legion, the older, relatively good Orphen: Revenge, by Chainclaw (who also added a very different, and very negative, opinion of the first season ), and a long review of the very short Dominion sequel Tank S.W.A.T. 01, by Marc. We've also edited the reviews and updated the trivia of over fifty additional anime during that quiet spell, and there are a half-dozen more new reviews coming shortly.
